A week in...London

So our first trip longer than 1 week was in December. Since we had a place to stay in London  (we got keys to Lindsey and Justin's flat in Edinburgh) we decided that a longer trip made sense. And since my cousin, Anita was going to be there as well, so it made a lot of sense.

We were over the wing, so I had to try to get a shot of the logo:

We flew in late the day after Christmas, mostly to avoid the busiest time at the airport. And a nice surprise, we flew over the city to get to Heathrow, which was pretty cool:

Unfortunately,we should have done a bit more research, oops:
It ended up being OK since they had just stopped running to one stop, rather than service to the whole of Heathrow. So we made it to Lindsey & Justin's just fine.

The next we just wandered around, past the palace and down the Thames, getting our bearings. London, of course, is a lot bigger than Amsterdam. We walked along Hyde Park to Buckingham Palace. We passed the Albert Memorial:

I really liked the sycamores against the grey of the sky:

It started to get really crowded as we got closer to the palace, and we were pretty surprised when these guys went by:

Turns out that there was a military band playing in front of the palace - my attempt to take a picture as the police hurried us along:

Of course no trip to London is complete without the following picture:

Wes really wanted to try some "local" beer, and got his wish at lunch time :

We continued to wander for a while longer, making our way accros to Parliament and Big Ben:

Look at his hair! =)

Millennium Bridge, with St Paul's on the other bank.
We ended the night at Tower Bridge

Stay tuned for Day 2 in the UK, we visited Salisbury and Stonehenge.
